We are extremely honored to have been chosen to produce a tribute video for Mr. Sam Skaggs, a businessman who has generously given hundreds of millions of dollars over the past four decades to further science & technology research and education. Bet Tzedek, The House of Justice provides free legal service to the underserved in Los Angeles. Bet Tzedek's 2011 Annual Fundraiser was a huge success and we helped tell their story. Bet Tzedek's 2012 Annual Dinner raised over $2.3 million. It was the third highest amount raised in their 35 years of existence! Roma Downey and Mark Burnett support the Breast Cancer Network of Strength in Chicago (formerly known as Y-ME) The Bresee Foundation called and asked if I could provide a paid internship for three of their filmmaker students. Coincidentally, Educate L.A. called two days later and inquired about creating videos for their first Annual Charity Benefit. What better way to create fundraising videos than by teaching kids how to tell a compelling story, raise awareness and learn how to write, direct and produce videos for a nonprofit organization. Carlos Valencia, Edgar Torres and Cristhian Arias worked for three months, wrote a script, conducted interviews and shot at five different locations and edited together two fundraising videos that were a huge success! JPL had three animations visualizing their GENESIS project. However, without knowing the history of the project, visitors to their website could not understand the purpose of the GENESIS mission. So we wrote the story, cast and recorded the narrator's voice and worked with a composer to bring the story to life and create the final result. Now their animations clearly tell the story of the GENESIS mission. The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) and McDonald's announced a collaboration regarding research and educational initiatives to drive progress toward a solution to childhood obesity and Type 2 diabetes. McDonald's will contribute $2 million to The Scripps Research Institute to address these critical health issues facing America's youth. The University of Utah's Third Annual Pharmacy Cup 2011 "Sam Skaggs' vision was to hire the very best people and let them do what they do best." For the first time ever, the Skaggs Institute provided an environment where chemists and biologists can work together. Over the past ten years, Mr. Sam Skaggs and the ALSAM Foundation have given over $100 million dollars to The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla to further basic science, technology and research. Tuff Cookie Productions worked with TSRI to tell the story of how 10 years of generous support has translated into major new discoveries, medicines and treatments. Tuff Cookie Productions has produced a Capital Campaign video for the University of Utah's College of Pharmacy, to help raise $50 - $70 million for a new building. We created this spoof for the The University of Utah, which kicked off their First Annual Pharmacy Cup at the South Jordan Equestrian Center to benefit the College of Pharmacy at the U. We had so much fun at this event! The College of Pharmacy asked us to produce a promo to entice Sponsor's for next year's event. Already, the U. has more sponsors then there are players and teams. All proceeds go to complete construction on the new Skaggs Research Institute at the U. This was easily the most fun event we have ever attended! After creating a marketing piece for promotional purposes, we saw a great opportunity for the U. of Utah to have a PSA to run on their local channels. So we edited a :15 spot for the U. to help raise funds and awareness every year. Written/Produced/Directed by: Cookie Carosella "I've seen a thousand tribute videos but never one as heartfelt as this," said Monty Hall. Judy Zdravje was hired to work in the Arts & Crafts Department at the Boys Club in Boyle Heights in the late 60s. She was the only woman working in this tough, east L.A. neighborhood. She rose up the ranks and ran the Club as its Executive Director before retiring after forty-two years of dedication to this Club. We had 30 hours to interview 16 hotline counselors and produce a compelling video that captured the heart and soul of Y-ME, a 24/7/365 breast cancer hotline that has been helping women for 32 years. |
